"If you want to change the world, you have to change the metaphor."

Using Metaphors and Stories as Elegant Resources, Reframes, and Rapport
Every client arrives carrying stories.
Some stories act as bridges, helping them move toward what they want. Others become invisible cages, reinforcing old identities, familiar struggles, and unwanted patterns.
As practitioners, our ability to hear, understand, and skillfully work with these stories can transform the effectiveness of our work.
In this experiential two-day workshop, LiYana Silver will teach you the art and craft of transformational metaphors: how to identify the metaphors already shaping a client's reality, and how to create elegant, memorable metaphors that help new possibilities take root.
You'll learn how to use stories and metaphors to create rapport, gather information, deepen trust, and deliver reframes that land smoothly and continue working long after a session ends.
Rather than forcing change, transformational metaphors invite it.
Meet Your Trainer: LiYana Silver
LiYana Silver is a Master TNLP Practitioner, relationship coach, and author of Waking Up in The Dark Night of Divorce and Feminine Genius.
Through her private practice, retreats, and online courses, LiYana guides individuals, couples, and groups through deep transformation: to break repeating patterns, reclaim what they lost in heartbreak, and emerge awake, aligned, and lit-up.
A former professional dancer and lover of painting with oils, LiYana lives currently in Asheville, NC with her son, their two cats, and a frankly impressive number of houseplants.
No matter where she’s living, LiYana always considers the NLP Marin community her home away from home.
You'll Learn How To...
- Help clients build a bridge from where they are to where they want to be
- Recognize the metaphors and stories that stabilize an Unwanted Present State
- Craft powerful reframes that stick and become signposts toward a Desired State
- Use metaphor as a tool for calibration, rapport, and information gathering
Hands-On Practice
Throughout the weekend, you'll receive real-time practice opportunities, including:
- Crafting a bespoke transformational story for a practice client
- Creating resource metaphors that can be woven directly into coaching or change work
- Receiving feedback and refinement from an experienced practitioner
- Experiencing the impact of transformational metaphors firsthand
This is not simply a workshop about understanding metaphors—it's a workshop about creating them.
Who Is This For?
This workshop is open to graduates of Core/ITC and above who want to deepen their communication skills, enhance their effectiveness with clients, and add another elegant tool to their practitioner toolkit.
Whether you're a coach, facilitator, healer, therapist, guide, or change worker, you'll leave with practical skills you can immediately apply in your sessions. You'll also experience some changework for yourself.
What You'll Leave With
By the end of the weekend, you'll have a new lens for listening, a deeper understanding of how people organize their experience through story, and a practical framework for creating metaphors that facilitate meaningful and lasting transformation.
