NLP Marin Founders

NLP Marin was founded in 1993 by Bob Hoffmeyer and Carl Buchheit.

Bob and Carl began their first NLP Practitioner course in February 1994 with 23 students. They brought a wealth of experience to the venture. Together they have more than 50 years’ experience assisting people change, grow, and create a more satisfying and fulfilling experience of life. They have both explored a variety of change modalities and they both continue to participate in new courses and trainings that enable them to evolve personally and to add to their ability to assist others. Their backgrounds include experience in business, leadership development, finance, consulting, teaching, group facilitation, and spiritual counseling. They have experience with both large and small companies. As a result, they are well able to understand and appreciate their students’ needs and desires for both personal development and professional success. In 2006 Bob retired from NLP Marin to pursue his passion in jewelry making. We are grateful for his many contributions.

Carl L. Buchheit, Ph.D.

NLP Marin Co-Founder, Training Director

Carl trains from the heart, backed with a brilliant intellect, insatiable curiosity, and unconventional humor. The result is a fun-filled learning experience where all aspects of the students and their lives are welcomed and included. He challenges his students to explore themselves, the world, and life in a way that respects and uplifts everyone.

Carl has been involved in NLP since the mid-1970s. He is certainly one of the finest practitioners of NLP in the world, and quite possibly the busiest. At the beginning of his career, Carl trained with Leslie Cameron-Bandler, the co-developer of NLP who was acknowledged for having added heart to the newly evolving technology of Neuro-Linguistic Programming. Carl’s main early influence was the mentoring of Jonathan Rice, PhD, a clinical psychologist who was the first to include the methods, techniques, and tools of NLP within a larger professional perspective. Carl continues to learn, and integrate what he learns, from everyone he encounters. His ongoing, intense private practice with clients keeps what he presents fresh and alive.

Carla Camou

Carla Camou

NLP Trainer

Carla has been involved in NLP since 1986 when she began integrating NLP into her work and life. Experiencing the life-altering impact of this work, she became an NLP trainer. Carla works with NLP Marin as a trainer and also runs the Life-Re-Solutions NLP center in Seattle, WA. In Seattle she holds classes, facilitates Family Constellations, and has an active NLP practice working with clients around the country.

Carla starts by seeing the strength in each person. With deep respect for their journey, she helps people understand that they really can live the life they want. She guides people to discover the blocks that prevent them from expressing the person they truly are. Once uncovered, she explains how to work with those blocks so they are no longer a burden.

What makes Carla a top NLP practitioner is her curiosity about people. Her non-judgmental approach has helped hundreds of students and clients see themselves in a loving light. Gentle discovery is Carla’s approach to how one learns who they really are, and who they can become.

Training Assistants

To ensure you get plenty of support in your learning, the staff-to-student ratio is generally very high—one Training Assistant for each three or four students. Training Assistants have completed and are certified at the Master Practitioner level, with rare exceptions. Those rare exceptions are those who demonstrate remarkable ability with the material at an earlier stage.

Training assistants are selected from among our graduates based on their demonstrated mastery of the material, their application of it in their lives, and a demonstrated high level of skill in working with others. As a result, our training environment is alive with fresh learning opportunities. Our Training Assistants contribute not only their knowledge of NLP, but also their experience of using it as they support students in their learning.

NLP Marin Staff

NLP Marin is lovingly managed and operated by a team of people at the trainings, in the office, and behind the scenes, all working hard to set the scene for the best experience possible for the students. If you need anything, just ask.

In addition to bringing strengths from our various diverse backgrounds, we have all been through the the entire range of NLP Marin coursework and strive to embody the practices and presuppositions in our daily work.
